Driving towards a more sustainable world in mobility

Our efforts in innovation were recognized in May with the Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year award at the 2022 ceremony in Hannover, Germany.

The Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence celebrate recent advancements in tire technology, and progress toward a greener industry.

We were honored to receive the 2022 Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year Award for our cobalt-free solution for steel cord adhesion.

The BeCoFree project, as we call it, has been in the making for a long time. In the beginning of this journey, we asked ourselves how we can contribute to a more sustainable world when it comes to mobility, one of the market segments we support with our products and solutions.

The elimination of cobalt has been a priority for us for several years and is driven by the market but also by our sustainability ambitions.

This next-generation tire cord coating will enable tire manufacturers to produce high performance tires without the need to add any cobalt (or elements of similar concerns) to the rubber compound - making the production process greener and healthier. 
In addition, the better adhesion of the steel cord contributes to a longer lifetime of the tire.

We focus on the customer needs of tomorrow, not only in tires with new mobility trends, but also in renewable energy solutions (wind, hydro), low carbon construction materials and others. This award is also a testimony of how our R&D, product development, manufacturing technology and market-facing teams work together to challenge the status quo and create a better tomorrow for us, for our customers and all.
