The story of Bekaert begins in 1880 in Belgium when Leo Leander Bekaert starts making barbed wire in Zwevegem. Today, Bekaert has 50 plants and offices in Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, the Slovak Republic, South Africa, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

To give an answer to the changing market conditions in this region we align our production facilities as much as possible and we offer a wide range of top quality products, focusing on market oriented innovation. Some examples: steel cord, bead wire and Fleximat® fabric for rubber reinforcement, filter media, Dramix® steel fibers, elevator belt cables, ropes and rope wire, armoring wire for umbilicals and high voltage power cables, flat and shaped wires for flexible pipes, a wide range of Bezinal® coated wires, low energy consuming heat exchangers and gas burners, and many more.
